Olympics fans rave after spotting 'dream job' as hilarious footage of Games workers goes viral after track and field events begin

  • Olympics fans have spotted a 'dream job' in the javelin event at the Paris Games
  • Workers went viral for their role in keeping the javelin contest running smoothly
  • Believe it or not, the role involves taking charge of a remote control car

Fans are obsessed with a 'dream job' they've spotted at the Olympics - and it involves remote control cars.

The track and field events are well underway and they have already brought success for Team GB, with Keely Hodgkinson the headline-grabber after her 800-metre gold.

One of the iconic events and staple of school sports fields is of course the javelin, and on Saturday fans could not help but notice an amusing-looking job for it.

That role consisted of a worker controlling a toy car to travel to the thrown javelins, while another employee loaded up the vehicle with the spear when it got there.

The clip of the two Games staff enjoying their role was shared on TikTok with the caption: 'I don't want money, I don't want fame.

'I just want to be one of the two blokes whose job it is to sit on chairs in the Stade de France and drive the remote control cars back and forth collecting the Javelins after they've been thrown at the Olympics.

'No stress, just sat down with your bestie chatting, driving cool mini-cars and watching Olympians do stuff all around you.

'Best seats in the house, best job in the world.'

Indeed, the drivers were sat within metres of the athletes launching their dreams into the air at the Stade de France.

The clip even attracted attention from Google's official TikTok account, with the corporation writing: 'This is the ideal driving route.'

Another wrote: 'Do they have a massive robot wars-style battle royale at the end? Because obviously they also need to do that.'

One said: 'I'd end up forgetting which car I was controlling though, wondering why mine isn't going the way I'm telling it, meanwhile the one that's really mine is off winning medals of its own in sprint events'.

Another wrote: 'Once again, I have beef with my high school guidance counsellor.'

It's true - few would imagine that you could turn remote control car driving into gainful employment on the biggest stage of all.

'Feet up, dream job,' one remarked.
