Carol Vorderman reveals she's made her Vogue debut at 62 and jokes she's 'not sure' how she slipped into their iconic September issue

Carol Vorderman has revealed she's made her British Vogue debut at the age of 62 in an exciting Instagram post.

The presenter took to social media on Wednesday to share a clip of herself flicking through the iconic September issue, while revealing she'd been listed as one of the magazine's famous Vogue 25.

In the clip, Carol could be seen flicking through the magazine while sat in her garden joking she 'wasn't sure' how she was considered for the coveted tome.

She said: ' Vogue September – I tell you what, I am thrilled to have been chosen by Vogue to be in their – it's an annual thing – Vogue 25, where they choose with 25 women,' she told the camera, as Madonna's classic song Vogue played.

'The other 24 are unbelievable, whereas I'm not sure how I've slipped in.'

'However, if you want to look, I'm on page 195,' she chuckled, going on to exclaim: 'First time in Vogue!'

Captioning her post, Carol, who recently showed off her impressive flexibility in the kitchen, added: 'BRITISH VOGUE @britishvogue ❤️ So this is what it looks like… Being a bit daft here…'

It comes after Carol revealed she recently had a terrifying cancer scare after losing her mother to the disease.

She became concerned after noticing changes in her skin and after getting her skin biopsied she discovered that a few of the skin cells were pre-cancerous.

Her own mum passed away in 2017 after suffering from three types of cancer - the last of which was melanoma.

Speaking to Boots, who have teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support to champion sun safety, Carol shared her experience to raise awareness.

She said: 'When I got to my late forties, I could see there were little bits on my skin which were irregular so I went to a dermatologist.

'[I had] a biopsy and a couple of them were pre-cancerous. You hear that word and it's very frightening.'

'Not a single time in her life did she sunbathe – my mum had a different skin to me, she had moles, I don't,' Carol said. 'I know that makes you much more prone to melanomas.

She added: 'With what I've gone through, protecting my skin, then my mum with the melanoma then dying, it's really important to me and my family [to support] what Boots are doing to help customers to keep safe in the sun.

'Always wear a hat, always slather yourself in SPF 50, check yourself and if there's anything that you find get it checked as soon as possible.'

Carol's mother - who was known as Jean, but her real name was Edwina - had been diagnosed with terminal cancer just three months before her death.

She had battled three different forms of cancer over the last 12 years, with Carol previously revealing her mother had been treated for skin cancer and kidney cancer, as well as having an ovarian tumour removed.

New figures reveal that melanoma skin cancer diagnoses across all age groups have reached a record high, with 17,500 people diagnosed each year in the UK.
