Madonna set to take upcoming Celebration performances 'at a slower pace' after serious health scare as Beyonce overtakes her record for highest-grossing female tour

Madonna is reportedly set to take her upcoming Celebration Tour 'at a slower pace' following a serious health scare in June

It comes as Beyoncé surpassed the singer's record for the highest grossing female tour, as her Renaissance shows smashed figures previously held by Madonna's 2008 Sticky & Sweet run.

Madonna, 64, was forced to postponed her shows as she was treated for acute septic shock, but officially restarted rehearsals two weeks ago.

An insider told The Mirror on Saturday she is taking things 'at slower pace' and has 'taken up boxing lessons' - thanks to her new boyfriend Josh Popper, 29 - as well as yoga and weekly vitamin injections to aid recovery.

Beyoncé has so far amassed £346million from her Renaissance Tour dates after another sell-out performance at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Friday.

She still has nine dates remaining on her 56 date run, which wraps up in Kansas City on October 1.

Madonna had held the record with her £324million Sticky & Sweet Tour which ran for 85 dates from 2008 until 2009.

Beyoncé released Renaissance, her seventh studio album containing the hit track Break My Soul, in July 2022.

The album won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album in February.

Beyoncé's last solo tour was the Formation World Tour in 2016 to support her sixth album, Lemonade - in 2018 she went on the On The Run Tour with her husband, Jay-Z.

Both Madonna and Beyoncé's records could be smashed by Taylor Swift who kicked off her Era's Tour in March, with 146 shows across five continents, it wraps up at Vancouver's Rogers Centre in November 2024.

Following her hospitalisation Madonna has taken over the Nassau Coliseum in New York City to prepare for the global tour.

The hitmaker has also reportedly splashed out on a UK venue to rehearse at ahead of her first night at London's O2 Arena on October 14.

A source told The Sun: 'She is very much still in recovery but Madonna has been chomping at the bit to get back to rehearsals.

'Not only has she hired the Coliseum in New York but she's also hired out a second venue in London for the final week of dress rehearsals.

'Normally she would like to have the final week in the same venue she kicks off in but due to Blink 182's comeback gigs at the O2 her team won't be able to get access until the day before.'

Due to the tight schedule, Madonna will only have less than 48 hours until show time after gaining access to the venue.

It comes after Madonna stated she 'realised how lucky she is to be alive' after a serious health scare in June.

She was given an injection of the drug Narcan - commonly used to reverse suspected drug overdoses - to combat acute septic shock before she was rushed on to hospital, reported Radar Online.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused when the body releases chemicals to fight an infection. These chemicals damage the body's own tissues and organs and can lead to shock, organ failure and death.

The insider said the singer 'has an incredible support system around her and appreciates all the love she's received' since she was taken to a hospital June 24.

She gushed, 'I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference. So did the love and support from my friends.'

Included in the post was a photo of the Like A Virgin hitmaker holding a framed photo.

She explained: 'If you zoom into this Picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance.'

The Michigan-born star added: 'Artist who touched so many lives including my own. I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive.

'And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.'

Comments of support poured in from friends and fans alike, with Rosanna Arquette writing, 'Love to you. Happy you are safe and have your beautiful children’s love and support. yes you have much more work to do here.'

The living legend is just days away from her upcoming August 16 birthday.

She was rushed to the ICU and intubated after being found slumped on the floor of her New York City apartment on June 24.
