Boris Becker displays painful-looking elbow injury as he joins his fiancée Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro on the beach in Costa Rica - ahead of filming Bear Grylls' Netflix survival show

Shirtless Boris Becker displayed a painful-looking elbow injury as he strolled on the beach in Costa Rica with his fiancée Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro on Wednesday.

The former world No. 1 tennis player, 56, is thought to have jetted to Costa Rica to take part in the upcoming Netflix survival show Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls that will be hosted by Holly Willoughby.

His elbow looked swollen as he relaxed on the sand in his blue trunks after in 2020, it was claimed that Boris had been suffering from what's known as 'Student's Elbow'.

The Times' medical correspondent Dr Mark Porter said: 'It's a good case [of student's elbow]. They are often the size of a golf ball but looking at it, this one is, appropriately, the size of a tennis ball.'

Student's elbow, or 'Olecranon Bursitis' is a condition where a small sack of tissue over the tip of your elbow becomes inflamed and swollen. 

A representative for Boris has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.  

He enjoyed a dip in the sea and caught some rays ahead of appearing on the new survival show.

Boris was joined by his fiancée Lilian, 33, who showed off her incredible physique in a black crop top and tight leggings. 

She accessorised with dark shades and chatted on the phone while wearing her hair in pretty curls.

Lilian, a political risk manager from the African island of Sao Tome and Principe, has been with Becker for several years.

They moved to Milan together on his release from prison where he served eight months of his two-and-a-half year sentence for insolvency crimes.

Becker reportedly proposed to Monteiro at Milan's Cathedral back in 2021 - but any hope of a fairytale wedding was cut short by the impending prison sentence.

She was a constant presence by Becker's side while attending court hearings and even blew him a goodbye kiss when he was jailed last year and blasted by a judge for showing no remorse.

After the prison release the couple who were based in the UK relocated to Milan. This will be Becker's third marriage.

It comes as the full rumoured line-up for Holly Willoughby's Netflix show has been revealed as Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas and Steph McGovern are added to the cast.

The actor, 40, and the daytime TV presenter, 41, are the final two contestants to be added to the line-up of Bear Hunt, according to The Sun.

They are among the group who jetted to Costa Rica earlier this month to begin filming for the gruelling endurance show starring Bear Grylls.

Other stars who have previously been linked to the show include Boris, Spice Girls singer Mel B, Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas and rugby legend Danny Cipriani.

An insider told the publication: 'Signing up Steph and Joe have made this one of the most diverse and unusual celebrity line up ever seen on a show like this.

'The dozen celebrities come from incredibly different backgrounds - whether it's ballroom dancing, singing, sport or interior design. They'll each bring something to the mix.

'None of the choices are obvious - particularly not Steph and Joe, neither of whom have been on our screens in some time.'

Members of the rumoured line-up also include OnlyFans star and Kate Moss' sister Lottie.

The group have been told to look out for rabid vampire bats and deadly snakes as they begin filming in the jungle this month.

Mel B accidentally confirmed she is set to appear on the the £10 million gruelling endurance show earlier this month.

Mel shared a clip last Wednesday capturing herself enjoying a cold bath in a tropical location, which looked like Costa Rica, where the show is being filmed.

The star - known as Scary Spice - was seen exiting a wooden bungalow and heading to a frosty pool, where she braved the cold.

After the quick dip, Mel quickly headed out and ran to her towel nearby.

One star who won't feature on the show after pulling out is former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, 32, after failing to secure a deal with bosses.

A source told The Sun: 'Jesy had meetings with producers who were casting for the show, but in the end they couldn't come to a deal so Jesy won't be in the final line-up.

Danny Cipriani, Una Healy and Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen are among the other names tipped to be taking part in the upcoming survival show.

It will be the first reality TV show for Ted Lasso actor Kola Bokinni - also famous for roles in Top Boy and Black Mirror.

Model Leomie Anderson and British rapper Big Zuu complete the line-up.
