Isla Fisher is seen on set of Bridget Jones 4 for the FIRST time as she lands major role alongside Renée Zellweger in forthcoming film following split from Sacha Baron Cohen

Isla Fisher has been pictured on set of Bridget Jones 4 for the first time as she lands major role alongside Renée Zellweger in forthcoming film, following her split from husband Sacha Baron Cohen after 14 years of marriage.

The Wedding Crashers star, 48, who portrays a friend of Bridget's in the new movie, was dressed in a quirky pink dress, black knee-high socks and brown slip-on shoes.

She was wearing a black raincoat - due to the bad weather conditions - while carrying a young child actress out of a house during one scene.

Isla looked relaxed as she strolled around set, while a member of the crew kindly held an umbrella over her head.

It comes after a source told The Sun: 'Isla's real life is inspiring her new role in the Bridget Jones film.

'She plays a single mother who befriended Bridget at the school gates. Isla loves Bridget Jones and is thrilled that she landed the part.

'Her own experience will help her in the role and it's great she's landed such a big part after a really tough time.'

MailOnline has contacted Isla's representatives for comment.

Bridgeton Jones filming comes on the heels of sheer delight from fans after the announcement of the beloved character's return to the big screen.

Renee first appeared as Bridget in 2001's Bridget Jones' Diary and returned in 2004's Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016's Bridget Jones' Baby.

The movie was officially confirmed last month, with Renée and Hugh Grant's comebacks made official - after his love rat character Daniel Cleaver's death was falsified in 2016's third installment.

The fourth movie in the franchise - based on the books by Helen Fielding - will be released by Universal film on US platform Peacock on Valentine's Day 2025 while internationally, the flick will be released in cinemas.

Emma Thompson - who played Doctor Rawlings in the last film, is also back, with Chiwetel Ejiofor and White Lotus star Leo Woodall also set to star.

It comes after Isla recently broke her silence following her separation from Sacha Baron Cohen

'Thank you for all the kindness and support,' she wrote.

Isla and British actor Sacha, 52, announced in April that they had quietly separated last year.

The couple announced the news by sharing a picture of themselves together wearing tennis gear.

Their statement read: 'After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.

'In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.

'We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family's wish for privacy.'

The couple first met back in 2001 and tied the knot in 2010.

They are parents to daughters Olive, 17 and Elula, 13, and son Montgomery, nine.

Insiders have claimed their marriage had been 'shaky' for years, with Sacha reportedly struggling after making the 'sacrifice' to relocate their family to Australia back in 2020.

They had moved from Los Angeles to Sydney in 2020, then to Perth – where Isla's family live – in September 2021, to escape Sydney's strict Covid lockdown rules.

At the time, they said the switch to Western Australia would be permanent.

However, their move from the US to Australia was said to be 'difficult' for Baron Cohen because he was settled in Hollywood, and it was a shorter flight to London from there, too.
