Nick Carter's ex Kaya Jones reveals she believed 'something horrific' happened to his rape accuser Melissa Schuman in explosive new docuseries

Pussycat Dolls' Kaya Jones revealed that she believed 'something horrific' happened to Nick Carter's ex-girlfriend Melissa Schuman, who accused him of raping her

In a preview for Investigation Discovery's docuseries, Fallen Idols: Nick And Aaron Carter, Jones - who dated the former Backstreet Boy between 2004 and 2005 - recalled reaching out to his rape accuser in 2017 through a direct message on X (previously known as Twitter).

'Nick Carter was my boyfriend when I was in the Pussycat Dolls, and I saw the very detailed allegation about Nick and the response,' Jones, 39, said in the clip.

'It bothered me. Because it was discrediting this girl [Schuman]. So I wanted to hear what Melissa had to say.'

After jumping on the phone with Jones, Schuman later recalled that 'Kaya was so kind to' her.

'I think we must’ve spoken for hours. I needed someone to tell me that my life wasn’t over,' Schuman said.

Jones recalled that after Schuman came forward, she saw a 'young woman trying to speak and someone who thought he had more power and authority to try to shut her up.'

This led her to tweet a message to Nick, warning him that she was 'no longer keeping' his secrets and not to 'push it'.

'Because he knows what I know he knows,' she told the cameras. 'He knows why I left him, and, so do I believe that something horrific happened to that girl? Yes, yes, I do.'

Schuman, 39, best known for being a member of the American girl group Dream, claims Carter raped her in his Santa Monica apartment back in 2003.

She alleged, at the time, she was just 18 years old and a virgin.

Nick has previously denied her accusation and insisted their sexual encounter was consensual.

The docuseries will feature on-camera interviews with both Jones and Schuman as well as third woman, Ashley Repp, who has also accused Nick of sexual misconduct.

In an earlier trailer, released last month, Jones said she knew things that could 'burn' Nick's 'house down'.

'Nick looks like a perfect, pretty Ken doll,' she said. 'But I know how evil he can be.'

Last year, following the most recent accusation from Repp — who was referred to only by her initials at the time — Carter's attorney Dale Hayes Jr. told DailyMail.com that Nick denies her claims, while describing the three lawsuits as 'malicious schemes'.

In February 2024, Carter named Schuman in a $2.3 million suit against another accuser, named Shannon Ruth, who has also accused Carter of sexual assault, TMZ reported.

In the suit filed by Carter, the boy band alum said Schuman coached Ruth in an extortion attempt he says has cost him millions in lost wages.

His lawyer, Liane K. Wakayama, told TMZ in a statement: 'Melissa Schuman has been peddling this tale for many years, but her allegation was false when she first made it back in 2017 - and it still is.'

Wakayama told the outlet that 'a judge in Nevada recently ruled, after reviewing the extensive evidence we laid out, that there are strong grounds for Nick Carter to proceed with his lawsuit against Ms Schuman for plotting to damage, defame and extort Nick, his associates, his friends and his family'.

Carter's lawyer went on to call Schuman's latest filing a 'PR stunt' and vowed that it won't distract the singer 'from his determination to hold Ms Schuman and her co-conspirators to account for the immeasurable pain and suffering their extortionate conduct has caused'.

Fallen Idols: Nick And Aaron Carter premieres on ID and Max on May 7. and on discovery+ in the UK.
