A long time Mad Max fan has had his dream come true after scoring a small role in Furisoa: A Mad Max Saga the latest instalment of the hit franchise.

Paul Price was just ten years old when he first encountered the famed action film series.

Forty years later Price has ended up sharing scenes with Hollywood legend Chris Hemsworth who plays a villain in the blockbuster directed by veteran Australian filmmaker George Miller.

Price, 53, is from Silverton, near Broken Hill, 1167kms Sydney.

The desolate area around the tiny town was one of the locations used while filming the $333 million (US$168million) mega-production.

Silverton was also used to film the second Mad Max film in 1981, Mad Mad 2.

Price remembers as a ten-year-old seeing cast members in their bizarre costumes parked outside Silverton pub, which is now owned by his parents.

'I woke up that morning and walked outside, (and saw) all the bikers, it just sort of stuck with me for years from there,' he told The Daily Telegraph on Friday.

In Furisoa, Paul got a role as a 'featured extra' as a 'police biker' who is employed by the character of Dementus in the film, played by Chris Hemsworth.

Meanwhile, Furiosa's initial box-office in the U.S. has been below expectations.

It made an estimated $25.5 million over the Memorial Day Weekend just beating out the family film, The Garfield Movie which earned $24.8 million.

However, according to Box Office Mojo Furiosa is performing better in other territories across the globe.

Its world wide gross to date is $71,717,619.

According to Screen Rant , Furiosa wasn't as successful as anticipated because of the wait time between this sequel and the previous one.

Fans have had to wait almost 10 years for the Mad Max prequel since Fury Road was released back in 2015.

Many box office analysts had projected a debut for Furiosa in the $40 million to $50 million range, but like The Fall Guy it fell well under expectations.

Critics have embraced Furiosa, earning an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Anya Taylor-Joy plays a younger version of the title character Furiosa in the film, first played by Charlize Theron.

It is set over a 16-year period in Furiosa's life, years after a global catastrophe that has turned Australia into a radioactive wasteland.

The film follows Furiosa from when she was just 10 years old (played by Alyla Browne) and was abducted by Dr Dementus (Chris Hemsworth), leader of the Biker Horde.

The film also stars Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe and Angus Sampson as the Organic Mechanic.

It's the fifth film in the Mad Max series which began with Mad Max (1979), followed by Mad Mad 2 (1981) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. All three starred Mel Gibson.

Mad Max: Fury Road followed in 2015. All of the films have been conceived and directed by original Mad Max creator 79-year-old George Miller.
