Ruby Tuesday Matthews has reflected on the mental breakdown she experienced last year.

In June 2023, Matthews revealed that she was checking into a facility for 'deep therapy' following a bout of postpartum depression.

In a heartfelt Instagram story on Friday, Matthews shared her reflections, a year later.

Accompanying a video from the original post, she wrote: 'Having a moment a big reflection moment today. My heart breaks for me in this video. Only a few people know the me in this video. This was by far one of the hardest parts of my life journey I've experienced to date.'

Matthews elaborated on the difficulties she faced, describing how she was dealing with severe outbursts from her child while 'questioning my worth as a mother and person while managing a six-month-old baby and 5 year old, two businesses from home and everything else that comes with life.'

'I had mental health crisis a nervous breakdown I still really haven't talked about,' she continued.

'We hadn't yet received the ASD diagnosis, but the struggle was profound. I'm so grateful to my family, Zoe Emily and Ash. You guys saved me,' she concluded.

The Byron Bay influencer initially revealed in June 2022 that she would be 'checking herself in to learn some new tools' due to her struggles with postpartum depression.

'A little lost for words at the moment but grateful for these moments with my babies. Some days I feel strong and a true power house but postnatal depression sneaks up on you,' she wrote on Instagram at the time.

'A nervous breakdown isn't what I expected. But we are here. And I'm still going. This will be my last 7 days on Instagram then I'm leaving my phone at home and checking myself in for some deep therapy and to learn some new tools.'

Ruby said she has been seeing 'doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and several therapists' for months but 'medications aren't working'.

'I have good days and bad ones. I'm feeling angry these are my cards I've been dealt, that I'm so proactive and I can't shake this silly thing,' she continued.

'Medications don't work this time round, I'm angry that I've forgotten the old me. But I also see the light. I know the woman's rebirth after having a child is possibly the greatest growth of her lifetime. Only because I've been here before.'

'I have hope and I know it will get better and be better than ever! My girlfriends who have travelled to come help me. My family who no matter what show up. Family really is everything and for that I'm grateful.'

Ruby welcomed her daughter Holiday, her first child with fiancé Shannan Dodd and third overall, in September of 2022.

Ruby also shares sons Rocket and Mars with her ex-partner Ryan Heywood.

It's unclear when exactly Ruby and Shannan began dating, but loved-up Instagram photos of the pair began appearing in May 2021.

The couple announced their engagement in June of that year.
