Call The Midwife's Helen George films scenes for series 14 for the first time after 'drifting apart' from axed co-star Olly Rix

Call The Midwife star Helen George has been spotted filming scenes for series 14 for the first time, after her on-screen husband Olly Rix was written out of the BBC show.

The actress, 40, who has played Nurse Trixie Franklin since the show's inception in 2012, transformed into the heroic midwife as the series steps closer to the 1970s.

As well as sporting her character's nurse uniform, Helen showed Trixie's chic sense of style as a snazzy new fashion decade dawns, dressed in an ivory satin shirt and a green printed skirt.

Call The Midwife's 14th series will begin with a festive special on Christmas Day before airing its full run of eight episodes in January 2025.

The 13th series ended with Trixie opting to join her husband Matthew after he travelled to New York.

However, after it was reported that actor Olly Rix had been written out of the series, it appears that Trixie will return to Poplar in future episodes, without her husband.

On Saturday it was reported that Helen and Olly have 'drifted apart' after leaning on each other for support following their splits from their respective partners.

It was revealed that Helen had split from her partner Jack Ashton in July 2023 after seven years together, whilst Olly separated from his girlfriend Natasha Fagri at a similar time. 

In October she was snapped leaving Olly's home which sparked rumours of a growing connection between the pair. 

Now it seems Olly has unfollowed Helen on Instagram, although she still follows him.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'They were there for each other in the wake of their splits.

'But it seems they are no longer close and have made this clear by removing each other on social media. 

'Olly even went one step further and deleted a picture of him and Helen from Instagram.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for both Helen George and Olly Rix for comment. 

Olly was seen reuniting with his ex Natasha at a Notting Hill café in November, four months after it was revealed they had split.

The actor was pictured with his ex-girlfriend at the west London spot, just days after his on-screen wife Helen was spotted leaving his house.

The former couple, who split in July after seven years together, put on an amicable display as they greeted each other with a hug and chatted inside the café.

Olly left their meeting alone, holding a takeaway coffee in his hand and listening to his Apple AirPods. It is unclear whether Olly and Natasha had arranged to meet or if they had bumped into each other by coincidence.

It came after Helen was snapped leaving Olly's home in October, sparking rumours of a growing connection following their recent breakups.

They were said to be supporting each other as they navigate through their heartbreak.

Olly was spotted outside his home before returning with two coffees, with Helen emerging a few hours later.

An onlooker told The Sun on Sunday how Olly 'looked relaxed' and when Helen left the premises, she looked a 'little dishevelled'.

The sightings have fuelled speculation about a budding bond between the two co-stars who share a close connection, despite Olly's character reportedly being written out of the show.

An insider said: 'It's been a tricky year for both Helen and Olly. They have been spending a lot of time together on set, walking their dogs together and chatting a lot.

'They both have respect for each other as actors and they are supportive of each other and dedicated to their roles on the drama. The changes in their relationships have caused a lot of upheaval.'

A spokesperson for Helen said: 'Yes, she went to visit a friend for a cup of tea - like all friends do - and as we have always said, there is nothing more to this.'

Olly split from his makeup artist girlfriend Natasha after seven years together in July after allegedly drifting apart due to work commitments.

Meanwhile, Helen split from her partner Jack Ashton the same month, after they first met on the set of Call The Midwife seven years prior.

A year later, they welcomed their first child Wren, before their second daughter Lark was born in November 2021.
