Better Homes and Gardens hunk Adam Dovile revealed on Friday the gruelling training regime he put himself through ahead of his appearance on Dancing With The Stars.

The celebrity tradie, 40, told Daily Mail Australia that a combination of a healthy diet, low alcohol intake and challenging physical training helped him get into top shape.

'I'm not going to lie, it was very hard, I was definitely outside of my comfort zone. I had two cold showers a day throughout the eight weeks of training,' he began.

He added his career as a builder somewhat helped prepare him for the challenging physical demands of the show, as he was used to being on his feet throughout the workday.

'I'm a pretty active guy with all my building so when I went into it I didn't want to change too much of my outside life. So, I just stuck to what I normally do.'

'I made sure I averaged around 20,000 steps a day. And I don't eat junk food and I only drink water, apart from a few Sherbet's at the end of the day.'

Adam added he was particularly impressed by AFL legend Ben Cousins' performance on the show, and how the reformed bad boy had managed to turn his life around.

'He's a champion of a bloke. He put his all into it, he was the only one of us that continued dancing after we finished,' Adam said.

'What people need to understand is that we are all human beings. You never want someone to fall into bad patterns, but the best part is people can be rehabilitated.

'I think we should celebrate the fact that the bloke is rehabilitated, and look at him, he is fit and healthy! You can't concentrate on his past. We need to celebrate his success at coming out the other side fit and healthy.'

Adam added he would be attending this year's Logies ceremony in Sydney in August and named his pick for who would be taking home the Gold Logie.

'I love working alongside [DWTS co-host] Sonia Kruger, so I will give her a plug. She is a beautiful woman, I am rooting for her.

'Better Homes is also nominated for Most Popular Lifestyle Program and it has never won since I have been on it, so I'm hoping we can change that!'

Adam appears alongside a host of A-List celebrities on the latest series of DWTS, including Ben Cousins, MasterChef star Julie Goodwin, Home and Away star James Stewart and Lisa McCune.

Dancing With The Stars continues Sunday at 7pm on Channel Seven and 7Plus.
