The Bachelor's Laura Byrne left heartbroken as she shares tragic family news: 'Years of endless love and dedication'

Laura Byrne has bid farewell to her beloved grandmother.

The Bachelor star shared a series of images of her nan, Shirley May, thanking her for her love and support and sharing her thankfulness at having the matriarch in her life.

'94 years of endless love and dedication to our family,' she wrote alongside one of the moving images of Shirley holding her grandchild.

'This week we said goodbye to the best Christmas pudding maker, cuddle giver and the matriarch of our family, Nana,' she went on.

'I feel so lucky that my Nana was around to meet her great grandkids, and yet it makes me so sad that they don't get to grow up knowing the incredible Nana I had.

'I know Papa would have been waiting for you, as he always did. At least they get to be together again.'

Matty and wife Laura Byrne tired the knot on the South Coast in 2022 after meeting on The Bachelor.

Laura and Matty are one of the most successful couples to come out of the show, but the brunette beauty told the I've Got News For You podcast it almost didn't happen because she got 'cold feet' the day before filming was set to begin in 2017.

'I had a complete change of heart and didn't rock up for filming,' she admitted.

'If you're selected, you get given a time and location, and it's a secret time and secret location, to try and throw off paparazzi,' she explained.

'Mine was a pick-up location in Alexandria in some random park at 3pm, and you're supposed to rock up with all your suitcases and a bus will come and collect you.

'And I remember 3pm came and went and I was sitting at home and hadn't packed a bag. I just had a complete change of heart. I really didn't want to do it; I was worried about what it would look like vying for a man's attention on a reality TV show.'

She then got a call from producers who gave her until 10am the next day to decide and she had a dream that night which made her change her mind once again.

Since meeting, Matty and Laura have become parents to two beautiful daughters.

They welcomed Marlie-Mae in 2019, followed by Lola in February, 2021. The pair got engaged while on holiday in Fiji in April 2018.

The pair welcomed a new addition to their family in March.

The high-profile pair announced on Instagram that they have adopted a kitten named Raspberry.
