Ruby Rose doesn't look like this anymore! Aussie star reveals a brand new look after stepping away from the spotlight

She took a step back from the spotlight after she controversially quit the CW superhero series Batwoman back in 2020.

And now Ruby Rose has emerged with an edgy new look.

The 38-year-old actress and model took to her social media this week to share pictures of her freshly shaved head.

Ruby recently spotted a lush black crop, but has decided to lop off her locks for the American summer.

Ruby shared pictures of herself visiting animal sanctuary The Gentle Barn in California.

In the pictures, The Orange Is The New Black star could be seen hugging a cow and a pig.

She also included a selfie of 38-year-old Malaysian-Australian former Neighbours actor Remy Hii, who accompanied Ruby on her trip to the sanctuary for animals that have been abused.

'The Gentle Barn has always been a special place to me,' Ruby gushed in her post.

'I love being able to take Remy Hii... to feel the extraordinary experience that is hugging a cow...I am obsessed.'

The Melbourne native, whose real name is Ruby Rose Langenheim, began her showbiz career as a model, DJ and TV presenter for MTV Australia.

As her popularity grew, she found herself fronting major modelling campaigns for big names including Maybelline, and co-hosting popular shows such as Channel 10's The Project and Australia's Next Top Model.

She moved to Hollywood in 2013 to pursue acting and then shot to fame in 2015 with her breakout role in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.

The gender-fluid star's acting career skyrocketed when she was cast in blockbuster movies such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).

She starred alongside Hollywood royalty Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) and Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017).

In 2018, Ruby also co-starred with Jason Statham in sci-fi thriller The Meg.

However, her career took a turn for the worse in 2020 when she controversially quit CW superhero series Batwoman after just one season.

The star claimed she was subjected to poor working conditions on the set of the superhero series.

'To my dear, dear fans still asking if I will return to that awful show, I wouldn't return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head… NOR DID I QUIT,' she wrote in a scathing online post.

'I DID NOT QUIT, they ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me.'

She has since appeared in the films Stowaway, Vanquish, 1UP and Taurus over 2021 and 2022.

It comes amid news the star is writing a tell-all memoir which will include details on her feud with Veronicas' Lisa and Jessica Origliasso.

The star dated Jess from 2016 to 2018, during which time the sisters' relationship became so strained they were on the verge of estrangement.

Ruby announced on Instagram that she had started writing her book, and promised to expose the pop twins - whom she did not name but called 'the sisters' - for 'how horrific' they allegedly were to her.

She also claimed the 'truth' she was writing would 'p**s a lot of people off'.

Speaking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show a few months after the split, Jessica said she was in 'a very complex relationship'.

She added: 'I'm still trying to come to terms with the reality of it every day so it's really hard to explain to anybody.

'There was just so much that happened, so much that I can't even get into it.'
