Peta Credlin doesn't look like this anymore! Popular political commentator shows off her ripped figure in tight activewear

Peta Credlin is one of Australia's most recognised political commentators.

And on Wednesday, the 54-year-old showed fans a different side as she shared a photo to Instagram after completing a workout.

Peta ditched her typical opulent style for activewear as she showed off her muscular arms after a gruelling workout at the gym.

She flaunted her ripped figure in a singlet as she flexed her arm muscles.

Peta completed her look with black sport tights and grey sneakers as she posed for a mirror selfie.

'Halfway through the year and we're getting there @jameskellypt. It's all about the guns as you know and it's much harder now that I'm in my 50s!' she wrote.

'Weights, protein and consistency. The last one being the most important. It is the best mental health hours of my week @enterprisefitnessau.'

Peta appears to be following in the footsteps of Julie Bishop, who often documents her health and fitness journey on social media.

In December, the 68-year-old attracted headlines after showing off her yoga skills with a headstand on Cottesloe Beach in the background of a live cross, surprising a Studio 10 reporter.

'I was relatively fit but I was challenged by many of the poses,' she previously told Body + Soul.

'Over time, I came to enjoy the experience and yoga has become part of my life.'

Julie, who now runs a consulting business, Julie Bishop and Partners, has said she does yoga 'a few times a week'.

She is also committed to her daily runs and often vlogs her routine.

The former foreign minister was recently forced to clap back at her critics after she was accused of using Instagram filters to make herself look younger in photos.

She addressed her trolls head-on in a video shared to Instagram in January after finishing her daily morning run.

Clad in head-to-toe activewear, Julie said to the camera: 'Finished my run, [I'm] in the office, and apparently someone's complained about me using filter on posts.'

As she then approached the camera, the famous Snapchat dog filter appeared over her face, and she added nonchalantly: 'Personally, I don't get it.'
