Halsey slams 'mean' fans for their 'awful' comments - after Britney Spears drama and health battle: 'I'm a person'

Halsey got candid about the cruelty she had been enduring from certain fans in a vulnerable Tumblr post.

The pop star, 29, reminded trolls that she was 'a person' and 'not a character in a music video' as she described the 'mean' comments she had been receiving as of late.

On her Tumblr account, a disappointed Halsey described how the bullying had exponentially increased as she expressed her regret at returning to the spotlight.

The post comes after Halsey confirmed her diagnosis with lupus and a rare T-cell disorder as well as the release of her new song Lucky, a track inspired by the Britney Spears song of the same name.

'My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet,' she began in her Tuesday post. 'Not speaking for all of you, of course. But it used to be just a minority that were awful to me and now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.

'it’s hard to want to engage in a space that is completely devoid of any kindness, sympathy, patience; or to be honest human decency. Especially after years of hiding from the interactions for fear that this EXACT thing would happen. I don’t know man. I almost lost my life. I am not gonna do anything that doesn’t make me happy anymore. I can’t spiritually afford it.

'When I got sick all I could think about was getting better so I could come back and be a part of THIS again, but I don’t even know what *this* is anymore and I want to crawl in a hole and I regret coming back.'

She followed it up with a second post revealing she would be dropping a stripped version of Lucky.

'Anyway. I’m on my way to a PET scan. And uploading lucky stripped. Because this is the insane irony my life has become.

'I’m a person. Not a character in a music video.'

Last month in June, Halsey opened up about her health battle to her fans. In a post shared to Instagram at the time, she explained, 'In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.'

'Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.'

However, she positively added, 'After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors.'

'After 2 years, I'm feeling better and I'm more grateful than ever to have music to turn to,' the mother-of-one continued. 'I can't wait to get back where I belong: With you all. Singing and screaming my heart out.'

In a separate post, she also opened up about her health battle in series of videos that appeared to document the singer receiving infusions and also showed her breaking down in tears.

In 2022, Halsey shared on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogre's syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome - known as MCAS - and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, known as POTS.

The singer also suffers from endometriosis, and gave her followers an update earlier this year in March after undoing a procedure

The Bad At Love singer has also previously revealed her ADHD and bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Halsey also recently released her new track Lucky, a song inspired by the Britney Spears track of the same name.

The song touches on her attempts to keep up a glittering public façade while secretly battling lupus and a rare T-cell disorder.

In both the lyrics and the music video, Halsey drew heavy inspiration from Britney Spears' 2000 song of the same name about a celebrity hiding her private misery.

Although Halsey previously said she got Britney's 'blessing' for the reference, Britney posted a furious social media message in response to the new song on Friday, saying she felt 'violated' and threatening to sue.

Britney later deleted the post and claimed it was uploaded by someone else. 'Fake news !!! That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it,' she tweeted.

Halsey quickly responded to the singer's second post and shared on X: 'and I love Britney!!!!'
