Chris Hemsworth has found himself at the centre of a fan frenzy following a bizarre X post by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.

The Australian-born Hollywood actor, 40, appears briefly as his character Thor in the latest Deadpool & Wolverine blockbuster and can be seen shedding a few tears.

On Thursday Reynolds shared a still frame of himself as Deadpool with the weird caption: 'I know why Thor is crying. And I can't unknow it.'

Adding to the mystery Reynolds used an image of Deadpool making a 'shush' sign with one finger to his lips in his share.

Reynolds's post appears to be a reference to a scene in the film in which Thor is holding the dead body of Deadpool.

Fans took to X to try and convince Reynolds to spill more details about future developments for his Deadpool character, Thor and the blockbuster franchise.

'We want to know more too,' said one user on the thread which has been viewed by over 7.4m fans and attracted 1.6k comments.

Fan speculation about what they can expect from the Marvel universe ran hot on the thread, with many users suggesting that a Deadpool-Thor face off was in the works.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the third movie in the action comedy series featuring Ryan Reynolds and will mark the tenth time Hugh has played Wolverine.
