Cardi B has cleared up a report that stated her estranged husband, Offset, is 'unsupportive' amid their imminent divorce and her third pregnancy.
Cardi, 31 — born Belcalis Almánzar — responded to People's claim she filed for divorce because her marriage with the Atlanta-bred rapper, 32, was 'more of a distraction than support.'
When celebrity blog The Jasmine Brand circulated the quote from the unnamed source, Cardi took to the site's Instagram comments to rebut the information.
'OK this is getting weird cause I can say he helps me a lot with my business and the kids,' Cardi wrote on Saturday, August 3.
She added, 'Never in my career, no matter what I went through, [have] I had friends or family go to the media, sooo I don’t know who is this damn source going to People magazine.'
The Bronx-bred music artist stressed, 'Even with my [divorce] filing, I’m not asking for child support. My [request] is for him to only pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.'
They are expecting their third child together; the two already share daughter Kulture, six, and son Wave, two.
The rapper announced her pregnancy on Thursday, August 1, one day after she initiated the divorce from the Migos member.
She initially filed for divorce in September 2020, but backtracked on the decision two months later.
A rep told People that the latest filing is 'not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.'
A friend of the expectant mother also told the publication that the divorce filing is 'something that they had been discussing and talking about for a while.'
The person explained, 'It wasn't like, "Oh, she woke up one day, some incident happened, and this was it." She's been very calm about everything, and she's focused on her kids.
'She is excited about this new baby, and she's recording, so everything with her is actually pretty good.'
It was added that the two musicians, who have often collaborated on songs, have had issues for 'at least a year or so.'
The insider described the breakup as 'amicable' and noted that Cardi's 'friends just want her to be happy.'
The friend continued about the volatile couple: 'We've seen them break up, get back together, break up, get back together, and we just want her to stick to her decision and just enjoy her f***ing life.
'You're so successful. You've come so far in your career, just enjoy your life.'
