Eddie McGuire claps back at Karl Stefanovic's wild claim that French people are 'rude, pompous and weird sexually' as the TV veterans cover Paris Olympics for Channel Nine

Eddie McGuire has weighed in with his opinion after Karl Stefanovic delivered a brutally honest opinion of French people, claiming they are 'rude, pompous and weird sexually'.

The television hosts are both in Paris covering the Olympics for Channel Nine, and Eddie says he shares 'the opposite' view.

'Love the vibe, people have been great, wonderful food, drivers have been hospitable,' he tells Adelaide Now.

'Can't wait to get to the end so I can have some magnificent French wine. Shops, landmarks, history, fashion (is) inspirational,' he continued.

'Wonderful Rodin and Picasso exhibitions, shops and fashion totally wonderful.

'The games have been inspirational and aspirational. It's everything I hoped the Paris would be. Love it, Love Paris, Viva La France.'

It comes after Stefanovic shared his provocative observations earlier in the week.

'The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,' he told The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday.

'They're kind of a weird nation, sexually.'

Jackie Henderson then asked Stefanovic if he has attempted to speak French with the locals, to which the presenter provided a curt reply.

'Do you know what? I've stopped trying. I don't really like them that much,' he said.

'They're so rude. Oh, they're really up themselves… they're pompous. They do a good burger though. I do like the burgers and stuff over here.'

It comes after Karl copped criticism after his wife Jasmine thanked Channel 9 in a social media post following a luxurious dinner at Girafe Restaurant.

The pricey eatery offers caviar for as much as €650 (AUD $1075) with main dishes in the $60-$70 range.

The upscale restaurant features a terrace with Eiffel Tower views.

Not everyone was happy with the post, with one comment on Instagram reading: 'I'm sure all the people who have just been sacked from Channel Nine will be happy to see you eating at the most expensive restaurant in Paris paid for by Channel Nine!'

Another said: '100%. Like read the room. Go have the dinner and enjoy yourself. But at least have enough compassion to not post about it.'

However, others stood up for the pair, with one comment reading: 'They are working their butts off in Paris 24/7 either be gracious and happy or maybe don't comment'.

'There's always that negative someone that talks s**t on a nice post,' said one more.

In June, Nine Entertainment chief executive Mike Sneesby announced job cuts as part of a $30million cost-cutting plan for the business.

'From our nationwide team of almost 5000 people, around 200 jobs are expected to be affected across Nine, including some vacant and casual roles not being filled,' Sneesby said.

Jasmine, 40, has shared photos to social media of her lavish accommodation in Paris.

One photo showed Karl and daughter Harper, four, having a rest on a chaise lounge and another featured a spacious bedroom, complete with a king size bed and a stunning city view.

'A beautiful welcome to Paris by @airbnb. Thank you for hosting us during the Olympics,' she captioned the images

'We've made such amazing family memories already. It truly feels like a home away from home #airbnbpartner.'
