Jamie Lynn Spears is 'struggling' to stop using Ozempic, according to insiders who claim the star turned to the popular weight loss drug after being left 'mortified' by her appearance on TV shows last year.

The 33-year-old actress and younger sister of pop superstar Britney Spears, 42, garnered buzz among fans this week after sharing a snap in which she was wearing a shirt emblazoned with the slogan 'Ozempics 2024' in a parody of the Olympic torch.

Now, sources have told DailyMail.com that the mother-of-two has been using the weight loss wonder drug as she prepares to 'step on the gas' with regards to her TV career.

'Her friends and family have told her that she looks incredible and that she does not need to lose any more weight, but she's not listening,' an insider said.

Following nasty comments about her appearance during her short stints on Dancing With The Stars, Special Forces: World's Toughest Test and the UK version of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Jamie Lynn reportedly turned to Hollywood's new favorite weight blaster to boost her confidence and keep herself in the running for future TV roles.

The 33-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday with a carousel of images, including one makeup-free snap showing off her noticeably slimmer figure (R)  

Once it was confirmed that she would reprise her part as Noreen in the fourth season of Netflix drama Sweet Magnolias, she immediately set about trying to boost her confidence.

'Jamie Lynn hopped on the Ozempic train, and is now struggling to get off,' they said. 'She was mortified over her appearance when she did a string of shows last year. She read the comments and took it very, very hard.

'When Sweet Magnolia’s was renewed for season 4 she was so focused on getting a new body. Her friends were supportive because many of them use it too and by the time she started filming in January she looked great and was happy.'

However, the Zoey 101 star is failing to listen to friends' concerns, with the source adding: 'But then she kept going and is now having difficulty pulling the plug on it.    

'She is so scared of gaining it all back that she is willing to put her desire to have a "summer body" before her wellbeing.'

The insider claimed Jamie Lynn has persevered with the weight loss treatment even after dealing with unpleasant side effects.

'She has had some side affects just as most people have and although they are not severe enough to warrant her being forced to stop, they have affected her,' the insider said. 'She gets headaches a lot and has a hard time focusing and also stomach cramps.'

Another source claimed the fickle nature of Hollywood was a core reason for Jamie Lynn's current determination to maintain a slimmer physique.

They continued: 'She understands the pressure that Hollywood puts on actors for the way they look. So she turned to Ozempic to remain in the conversation of TV bosses.'

Jamie Lynn, who is mother to daughters Maddie, 16, with her ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge and Ivey, six, with husband Jamie Watson, drew the attention of fans with a recent Instagram post which featured a carousel of images that revealed her new look.

The McComb, Mississippi native went makeup-free in the final slide of the gallery, in which her hair was not yet styled and she donned a white top with black shorts while appearing to be in a hotel room.

Jamie Lynn's post appeared to recap a busy summer full of family activities, as she prepares for the forthcoming fall.

Last year saw the star make an early exit from Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. 

She voluntarily withdrew from the military training series after only three episodes, saying she missed her daughters.

She then starred on Dancing With The Stars and, according to Variety, earned $125,000, which is the standard pay for a celebrity who completes rehearsals and two weeks of competition.

Jamie Lynn and her partner Alan Bersten, were booted during week two after scoring 16 out of 30 for their cha-cha routine.

She then went on to quit I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds after struggling to adjust to life in the Australian jungle.

The actress had a very emotional time in camp and was frequently filmed in floods of tears over the difficult conditions and how much she was missing her family back home.

Yet she managed to appear in the finale of Dancing With The Stars just days after she withdrew from the UK reality show.

Viewers were skeptical at how she appeared to have been cleared by her doctor just in time to record a dance for DWTS.
