EXCLUSIVEThe Block stars too big for Gogglebox: Fan favourites were 'turned down' by the reality show because they'd grown too famous

The Block stars Eliza and Liberty Paschke were turned down by Gogglebox Australia because they had become to famous, it has been claimed.

The fan favourite sisters were runners-up on the hit renovation series last year and have since racked up 60,000 Instagram followers and launched a popular podcast.

They were said to be eyeing up an appearance on the 21st series of Gogglebox but then had their hopes dashed by Channel 10 producers.

An insider from Gogglebox claimed they were turned down by the reality TV show because they were too famous off the back of their success on The Block.

'The duo would have been fantastic but the show prides itself on having everyday Australians and The Block exposure has really given the girls a temporary celebrity tag, it isn't the right fit,' the source explained.

'It's a hard position for the girls to be. They are too famous for Gogglebox Australia but not really famous enough to do [I'm A Celebrity! Australia].

'Channel Nine are still deeply invested in ideas that could work for the Eliza and Liberty. Their story has not finished here.'

As well as its civilian edition, Gogglebox launched a celebrity version Down Under two years ago, which has starred the likes of Hamish Blake, The Irwin family, Dave Hughes and Julia Morris.

The insider said it 'may have been different' if Eliza and Liberty had been considered for the civilian edition last year, before gaining their huge social media presence.

It has also been claimed the sisters were also considered for Travel Guides but did not make the cut after Channel Nine came under fire for adding reality stars to the line-up.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Elisa and Liberty's representatives for comment. Network 10 declined to comment.

While Eliza and Liberty were not signed up, Gogglebox recently added some new faces as it returned to Channel Ten and Foxtel last month for its milestone 20th season.

Sisters Mia and Bree and their best friend Lainey have joined the cast of popular armchair critics, providing their entertaining TV commentary to viewers.

The three newbies, from The Shire in Sydney, have a love of reality TV, regularly watching The Real Housewives, The Kardashians and Survivor.

They also have a love for documentaries and true crime series and are set to bring some fun and sass when dissecting the shows they're watching.

Mia is a Teachers Aide studying to be a Special Education Teacher, and sister Bree is a dance teacher who teaches contemporary and lyrical dance.

Lainey is also a dance teacher specialising in just about every style of dance, and between the three of them, they have four Cavoodles - Zala, Zeah, Zola and Bailey.

They joined the cricket-obsessed Delpechitra family on the show alongside fellow originals the Dalton family, grandparents Lee and Keith and best friends Anastasia and Faye.

Also returning to the couches were the likes of Tim and Leanne, Milo and Nic, Kerry, Izzy and baby Ruby, and Matty, Malik and Uncle Jad.

After Gogglebox soared to huge success in the UK in 2013, the reality show travelled Down Under for its first installment in 2015 and has been a staple on screens since.
