Love Island's Amber Gill jokes that ex Greg O'Shea can 'keep his £25K share' after the pair won £50K prize just days after the Irish hunk arrived in the villa
They split just weeks after winning the hit ITV2 dating series after he reportedly dumped her by text.
And now Amber Gill has joked that her ex Greg O'Shea can 'keep his' £25K share from the £50K prize fund after an outcry from her fans who demanded the Irish hunk give back his portion of the winnings.
The Newcastle beautician, 22, candidly spoke about her recent split from the rugby player, 24, after he reportedly dumped her by text earlier this month.
Keep it! Amber Gill has joked that her ex Greg O'Shea can 'keep his' £25K share from the £50K prize fund after an outcry from her fans who demanded the Irish hunk give back his portion of the winnings
Talking about her fans demanding Greg hand back his £25K share, she joked to The Sun's Fabulous: 'Nah, he can keep it. I needed someone else to win and we won it together. I don't hate him, I'm just disappointed in him, really.
'All I'd wanted was a little bit of effort on his part to come to London or Newcastle to see me, and we'd had a discussion about that a couple of days before. And then he texted me on the day I was supposed to fly to Ireland.'
The Newcastle native added that despite the harsh nature of the dumping, it's offered her a chance to focus on her work, especially having landed a deal with fashion brand MissPap, worth a reported £1million.
Separate ways: The Newcastle beautician, 22, candidly spoke about her recent split from the rugby player, 24, after he reportedly dumped her by text earlier this month (pictured after winning Love Island in July)
'I think in the future I'll look back on this as a blessing in disguise. I can focus on work and spending time with my family and friends,' she added.
It comes after married couple, Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen, one of the show's biggest success stories since their stints in 2016, said that the pair's relationship came down to lust, not love.
Alex told the Mirror recently: 'They didn't really know each other that long, they were coming towards the end, there weren't really deep, deep feelings there.
All over now: Talking about her fans demanding Greg hand back his £25K share, she joked to The Sun: 'Nah, he can keep it. I needed someone else to win and we won it together.' (pictured in August)
'Obviously he fancied her, she fancied him. I think that's all it was really, like a bit of lust.'
While his wife, Olivia, added: 'At the end of the day, if you really loved someone and really wanted to be with them, you'd make it work regardless. They're just not meant to be together, I think that's all you can say.'
Amber appeared to agree with that sentiment when she told OK! Magazine recently that she's 'off men for the minute' after having a brutal split from Michael Griffiths during her time in the villa.
'No way, I dealt with two boys over the summer, I don't need to deal with any more right now. That's enough to last me for the year. I'm definitely off men for the minute,' she said.
