Good Morning Britain viewers 'switch off' and demand 'worst possible hosts' are replaced after ITV show sparks whopping 8,200 Ofcom complaints

Good Morning Britain viewers vowed to 'switch off' on Thursday and demanded that Ed Balls and Kate Garraway were replaced after the ITV show sparked a whopping 8,200 Ofcom complaints.

Breakfast programme GMB received 8,200 Ofcom complaints after Ed Ball and Kate Garraway's interview with MP Zarah Sultana on Monday.

Zarah, 30, MP for Coventry South, was on the programme to discuss the government's reluctance to label the ongoing nationwide riots as 'terrorism'.

Ed, 57, separately faced criticism along with GMB for the decision to interview his own wife, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, on the issue of the nationwide riots.

On Thursday, Ed and Kate, 57, again returned to the programme and fans could not contain their rage at seeing them again.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they fumed: 'This must be the worst pairing possible on the desk. She screams and interrupts he is totally out of his depth please please replace';

'Why is Ed Balls still on GMB?';

'These two makes me sick, with their smugness! Can’t conduct an interview, in a polite and respectful manner! Can’t stop showing their hate for the Tory Party. Utterly unprofessional!';

'Why these two again. Boring, boring, boring';

'Watching #GMB where Kate Garraway and Ed Balls desperately try to pretend they haven't been part of the problem. How many days ago did you ridicule #ZaraSultana?';

'#GMB have you sacked Kate Garraway and Ed no b**ls yet? #boycottGMB if they don't go';

'Ed is an absolute joke';

'I have to switch off. The glee oozing from Balls' while talking about limiting free speech and people being arrested and charged is sickening';

'Ed Balls is actually worse than Madeley as an interviewer. #gmb.'

In Monday's interview with Zarah, Kate said to her: 'We have to ask you questions as well,' and Ed added: 'And if you want to, you can answer them, it's your call.'

Ed and Zarah butted heads again and again and at one point, Zarah said: 'I'm going to wait for Kate to finish her question, if that's all right.'

Ed and Zarah repeatedly butted heads during the interview while Kate asked Zarah: 'Why is it important for you to use that specific word 'Islamophobic'?

Ed replied: 'If you want to answer the questions, you can, but you don't have to.'

Kate asked Zarah: 'Why is it important for you to use that specific word "Islamophobic"? It has been called racist, it has been called thuggery.'

Zarah reminded the hosts that mosques had specifically been targeted but Ed shot back: 'But Starmer has condemned that.'

On Wednesday, Kate and Ed were again criticised for their interviewing skills.

The hosts interviewed Conservative MP Robert Jenrick on the topic of the riots once again.

Angry far-right mobs have brought chaos - looting shops, setting fire to hotels and targeting police officers - in some of the worst civil disorder in more than a decade.

Hundreds of people have been arrested so far, with some already appearing in court over the series of charges and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer - who has described the riots as 'far-right thuggery' - called an emergency COBRA meeting on Tuesday.

GMB brought Robert on to discuss whether or not the Conservative government have a part to play in the riots, but as the chat went on, audiences at home became frustrated as they noticed Ed and Kate repeatedly cut off their guest.

Good Morning Britain returns on Friday at 6am.
