The "angry" father of missing teenager Jay Slater has analysed his son's last known interactions and has laid some of the blame at one person's door.

Warren Slater questioned why a woman in a restaurant would let the 19-year-old go the wrong way after giving him directions.

"Which human being lets a young boy go the wrong way? Everything stinks. It's just a riddle and I don't know the answer," he said.

It comes as desperate family members continue their own search into the mountainous terrains of Tenerife, along with a squad of 10 volunteers hoping to find traces of 19-year-old Jay, who vanished without a trace on June 17.

Amidst the scorching 25C heat, they trudged through the treacherous Valley of Barranco de Juan Lopez near the quaint village of Masca, leaving no stone unturned.

Warren recounted the ordeal of navigating through the dangerous ranges, admitting: "It's the fourth time I've done this. It was hard, I nearly put my eye out," reports the Mirror.

He didn't hold back on his disappointment with the investigation's progress: "Tell me where I look, I can only go off the last sighting, the woman in that restaurant saw him going the wrong way."

Jay, an apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancs, mysteriously disappeared after attending a three-day rave. The youngster was last seen making his departure from an Airbnb located in the island's north, not far from Masca.

Following a night out at the Papagayo nightclub in Playa de las Americas, the teenager reportedly left with two British men. He had been enjoying the vacation with friends Lucy Law, 18, and Brad Hargreaves, 19.

Warren expressed bewilderment over the swift dismissal of the two men by the police, saying: "My starting position, I've said this from day one, ask the two men who've taken him. And then start from there."

He added: "If you and me in England had taken a young girl to the Lake District, do you think they would have let us go back to Spain? We're going round and round in circles. The Spanish police, you can't go screaming and shouting at them because they don't do anything."

Warren timed the trek from the Airbnb to the search area, which took about 90 minutes, revealing the location's popularity with tourists capturing snaps of the breathtaking views.

He questioned: "You've walked from that bnb at 9am you've walked all the way up here, he's a young fit lad, all the way. You're trying to tell me no car, no one's seen him at half past 10. Why would you go down there? You've got to the end why go any further? Why would you leave this road? You haven't got a clue where you are.

"And no one else has seen him, one woman, he's knocked on her door, she said at 10 and he went the wrong way. This morning I saw her, she didn't want to stop. It's somebody's son, you know if you're the last person to see someone's son you try your damndest to help, don't you?"
