Lucy was the last known person to speak to Jay, when he phoned her to tell her he was lost and thirsty, and had 1% phone battery before vanishing without a trace.

She has been a central figure in the hunt for Jay, and her account of what happened has been scrutinised by an army of online sleuths and trolls convinced she has something to hide.

She as deactivated her Facebook account, however this hasn’t stopped armchair detectives digging out old photos of her and spamming it with hate, dubbing her as “Lu-ci-fer”.

In a two-year-old status asking if anyone is selling a ticket for Leeds Festival, one twisted user pretending to be Jay Slater himself, wrote: "Please Lucy, find me," and "Just tell them the truth."

While Lucy has jetted away from Tenerife, the search for the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire continues.

The Spanish authorities called off their search two weeks ago, after almost two weeks of combing the island’s rugged mountains. However, they say investigations remain open.

The teenager disappeared after going back to a remote Airbnb in the village of Masca, with two Brits he met at the rave on Sunday, June 16.
