A veteran sniper has claimed Donald Trump’s shooter must have “had help” in his attempt to kill the ex-president.

Dallas Alexander, who holds the world record for longest confirmed sniper kill, spent 14 years in the Canadian military and over a decade doing close protection for major world leaders.

Taking to Instagram, Dallas weighed in on the events of Saturday (July 13), when Donald Trump appeared to be hit by bullets fired by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks while speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania.

There's lots of quality news coming out of the US.

“I have no doubts in my mind that the shooter had help from somewhere within an agency, an organisation or the government,” said Dallas. “The second I saw that aerial photo of what they said happened - it immediately made no sense to me.”

Crooks fired an AR-style rifle towards the stage where Trump was speaking from a rooftop just over 130 yards away, but Alexander said he shouldn’t have been able to get that close.

The military man said: “You cannot, in broad daylight, get onto a rooftop within, what looked like a couple hundred yards if that [of the president]. You can't get in that position with a gun when there's a president speaking.

“Like, you don't even have to be a sniper - it's the most f****** obvious thing, most obvious place in the whole world. So something happened, and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. It's just too obvious that this guy had help getting there.

“If you have the skill set to get in there, avoiding all these security, all different layers of security, then you will have the skillset to hit that first round.”

Alexander finished by saying “this guy had help from somewhere, and I think that's obviously concerning.”

A member of Alexander’s JTF 2 sniper unit was recorded making the longest confirmed sniper kill in May 2017. The bullet travelled 2.2 miles and was in the air for nearly 10 seconds before striking and killing an Islamic State terrorist in Iraq.
