The son of ex-WWE boss Vince McMahon has been spotted out in public for the first time since an embarrassing in-ring appearance at Wrestlemania 39 last year.

Shane McMahon – often thought of as the most-loved member of the McMahon family – was last seen in public when he took to the ring in at SoFi Stadium in California to battle The Miz. His appearance shocked the fans . . . but ended in seconds and in an embarrassing way after he tore his quad muscle shortly after the bell rang.

Since then, the company owned by his family since its inception has been sold to Endeavour and now sits alongside UFC under the combined TKO banner. No McMahon has appeared on-screen since, with Vince subject to a legal battle over alleged sex abuse.

However, Shane has finally resurfaced after being snapped alongside stand-up comedian Jeff Dye. Dye took to Instagram to share the photo of himself with Shane, and US rapped NLE Choppha, as well as another woman posing backstage at a show.

He caption the picture: “Love the Lakers and I love wrestling so what a night to be at the lake show.”

And it didn't take long for fans to clock that Shane McMahon looks very different to the days where he'd fling himself from tall structures onto opponents in the early 2000s. One wrote: “Damn, been a while, didn't recognize Shane.” And a second commented: “Please tell me he jumped off something very tall.”

A third added: “Eeeeee there go Shane O Mac.” Many also called it the “most random pairing” of people in a photo.

Despite being the son of “the boss,” Shane managed to carve out a decent in-ring career for himself and is a previous European, Hardcode and SmackDown Tag Team champion.

He was also in the 2001 Feud of the Year for the battle with his father over the fate of WWE vs WCW.

His last full-time appearance for WWE was in a losing effort against Kevin Owners on the 20th anniversary edition of Smackdown, where he was fired for losing a ladder match.
