An on-the-run French fugitive dubbed 'The Fly' escaped from a cosy prison cell where he enjoyed a shisha pipe and access to a mobile phone and food on demand.

Amra is mainly known to French courts for drug trafficking, but "the head of a narcotics network" is also connected to an attempted homicide case, reports Le Parisien.

Amra reportedly tried to buy war weapons from his cell, or assault rifles “firing in burst mode” as he put it , in November 2022. He negotiated the price 6,000 euros (£5,000) each.

Parisien also revealed a threat he made to someone via a phone call. He reportedly said: “On the Quran of Mecca, Wallah, you will respect me. You are crazy, but I will show you that I am crazier than you! (…) Do you think I’m Coluche (a French comedian)? You wanted to see my bitchiness (sic)? I will show you! You're going to pay me!"

It comes after he reportedly tried to saw the bars of his cell days before the deadly ambush. Amra was placed in a disciplinary unit and his surveillance level had been raised to a high level.
