A YouTuber who faked pregnancy by wearing an artificial baby bump has been slammed for "clickbaiting a miscarriage".

Last month content creator Caroline Konstnar announced she was pregnant, saying she was "very excited to exploit this child for views" before receiving a barrage of congratulations.

“Yup, the rumors are true. I am knocked up big time… very excited to exploit this child for views,” she wrote. “It’s very overwhelming to be 20 and pregnant.”

She even spoke of her “fear and anxiety” over the apparent pregnancy.

However, on May 1 she uploaded a new video revealing that she is not pregnant, cracking sick jokes about "losing" the baby.

“No, I am not pregnant,” she said, adding that she “lost the baby” and didn’t know where she “put it.”

Caroline then explained why she “joked” about being at least 13 weeks pregnant. "When you’re a content creator, the line between entertainment and reality is very blurred," she reasoned.

Konstnar added: "Your audience will become very attached to an abstraction of yourself. This connection can become very personally meaningful to the viewers whilst not being personally meaningful to the creator itself.”

However, some viewers didn't see it as the artistic exploration that Konstnar portrayed it as.

One person wrote on Reddit calling the project "distasteful".

“This is kind of disgusting imo. Clickbaiting a miscarriage is so disrespectful and regardless of whether it’s clear it’s a joke or not it’s distasteful,” they said.

"It's crazy how believable this entire video was despite being completely false," one person wrote under the original YouTube 'pregnancy' reveal.

Another added: "This aged like milk." A third said: "Ok so, no baby."
