Bargain Hunt star Phillip Serrell has recounted the harrowing ordeal his daughter went through with car thieves.

The BBC star, who appears in the show as an auctioneer, took to social media on Monday (April 15) to admit his daughter had been the victim of an attempted carjacking. Carjacking is when thieves enter a vehicle and hijack it whilst the driver is either away or still inside, before throwing them out of the car.

Serrell admitted that his daughter wad forced to come face to face with the robbers as two criminals attempted to nick her car from her. Daughter Clementine was able to confront the criminals on what they were doing, but they eventually made off with her car keys.

Taking to Twitter, the auction show star said: "Last night Clementine Serrell caught 2 blokes stealing her car after a car key theft. In a way, I hope they don't get caught - won't do their street cred any good being chased off by a 5'4 blonde."

Fans of the star were quick to rush to Clementine's side to offer both her and her father support. One fan commended Clementine's bravery for standing up to the criminals, saying: "They didn't realise how fit you were, girl power!! Glad you're okay."

A second account added: "Clementine Serrell is constantly inspiring and such a hard-working person. Only deserves the best and not these crooks! Hugs to you, Clem."

A third user also paid tribute to Phillip's daughter, penning: "You go, girl!! Good on you for chasing them, but just as long as you were safe!! Does Clem take after you or your wife Phil??"

After seeing the inundation of messages of support and love after her ordeal, Clementine responded to the fans, thanking them for their concern. She also seemed to have calmed down from her experience as she was able to crack a joke referring to herself as a "Liam Neeson / James Bond hybrid".

Clementine is the only child that Phillip has with his wife, with the family growing up and still living in Worcester. Born in 1988, Clementine has been the apple of her father's eye for years, and the pair have a close bond.

Phillip himself has also struck up a fan base, as many note him for only ever being seen with a scarf on the show. Explaining his reasoning for wearing them in a Twitter post in 2021, he explained that producers wanted him to wear the scarf for technical reasons.

"Cast your mind back to about November of 1999, I was asked to record the very first Bargain Hunt that they ever recorded," he wrote. "I walked into the green room with a scarf on and I was about to take it off when the soundman said, 'What are you doing?'.

"I said, 'Well, I’m taking my scarf off'. He said, 'no, no, no - don’t do that because I can hide the microphone in there and it makes me look really good'."
