Billie Eilish looked totally unrecognisable as she stepped out on the Oscars red carpet in a tiny tartan skirt and heels.

The What Was I Made For hitmaker is nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Academy Awards, after Billie already scooped an Oscar in 2022 for her James Bond hit No Time To Die. But she’ll be battling it out against rival Barbie star Ryan Gosling with his track I’m Just Ken.

Billie looked completely different as she hit the red carpet in a black and white wool skirt that skimmed her calves, slipping into a crisp, high-collared white shirt and a black blazer for the occasion. She added a simple red button pin badge to one lapel and added white socks and dainty black heels while clutching a dogtooth purse.

Billie let her brunette tresses hang free in a loose, Hollywood blowout around her shoulders, adding silver earrings to her lobes and leaving rings glinting on her fingers. She put on a pastel pink pout for the cameras and added bright blush to the apples of her cheeks while tossing a look over her shoulder.

What Was I Made For has already reached crazy heights, having scooped the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. She also took away two Grammy awards this year for the track – for Song of the Year and Best Song Written For Visual Media.

If Billie takes home the Oscar tonight, it would be a record-breaker – and the first song to achieve such a feat in the 21st century. It would be the first time a song took home both the Song of the Year Grammy Award and Best Original Song at the Oscars – and be a triumph for Billie.

Billie is nominated for an Academy Award

Speaking about the nomination – while Barbie actress Margot Robbie was snubbed in the Best Actress category – Billie and her brother Finneas confessed: “We are so incredibly honoured to receive a nomination for What Was I Made For? As lifelong fans of film, music in film and the Academy Awards, this means everything to us.

“We are so grateful to the Academy, its members, and to be recognised alongside so many songwriters that we respect and admire. Our deepest gratitude and thanks go out to the incomparable Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach for their genius vision and execution, the entire Barbie cast and crew, Lucky Chap Entertainment and the Warner Bros. Pictures team.”

They added: “And a special shout out to Margot Robbie for her incredible foresight as a producer and brilliant performance that resonated with us so profoundly when writing this song. We are truly honoured. Thank you.”

Both Margot and director Greta Gerwig were overlooked in the nominations, though Barbie is up for Best Picture. Actor Ryan Gosling received a nod for Best Supporting Actor, admitting: “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”
