Megan Thee Stallion panicked as a snake slithered near her groin while she tried to pay homage to Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Pop princess Britney famously clutched a yellow python as she writhed to I’m A Slave 4 U in a steamy performance at the event in 2001, and Megan tried to recreate it at this year’s ceremony in New York. The star hosted the awards show and at one point slipped into the tiniest shorts and a skimpy green top just like Britney’s, and hit the stage with a huge snake of her own.
However, she got into a bit of a tizz as it started to wind its way around her waist and near her groin, and ended up yelling for someone to take it off her.

Britney’s hit track was playing in the background as Megan, 29, stood with the snake draped around her and shimmied in her eye-popping outfit. But she was flustered as the reptile started to move around her waist.
“OK! OK! Stop the music, stop the music!” cried the singer, who pretended to crawl out of a snake in her Cobra video. “I'm just playing,” she said. “Come get this snake," she yelled. "I don't know this snake. This snake don't know me!”
Someone rushed to the star’s aid and took the creature away, leaving Megan squealing with relief. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed as the man unwound the snake from her body and carried it off backstage.
Pacing and smoothing her hair as she got over her fright, she told the cheering crowd that she had done her best. “I tried to hold it down for Britney!” she giggled.
Britney’s 2001 performance has become the stuff of VMAs legend, with the singer all over the headlines after cracking out her sexy hit with the massive python over her shoulders. The performance made a huge splash and the singer looked completely confident as she strutted her stuff while clutching the reptile.
However, Brit has since admitted that while it was one of her top gigs, it was actually a bit of a scary moment for her. Posting about it on X last year, she told her fans: “One of my favourite performances was with an albino python… I still remember how scared I felt when I was handed this snake and took the stage!!!”
