Arsenal cult hero Mesut Ozil gave an ice-cold response when he met Justin Bieber in a London nightclub.

Ozil, who cemented himself as a firm fan favourite during his seven-plus year stay at the Emirates, crossed paths with pop megastar Bieber when he was touring in England back in 2016.

Both were at the top of their respective games and attended popular A-list nightclub Tape, where they were introduced by Gunners fan and radio DJ Roman Kemp.

Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast, Kemp explained how he and Bieber had struck up a friendship. "We ended going out that night and every time he'd come back to London, we would always go out," he said.

"Then one time he came to London, I'd just also been doing some work with Adidas, and I'd been working with these footballers. So we were in this nightclub and all of a sudden this person comes over to me."

The person in question was Ozil - but not as you'd expect him. "He came over wearing a string vest, like full nipple string vest," Kemp continued. "He comes over and goes 'Roman, can you introduce me?'.

"So I go over to Justin and said 'look, I want to introduce you to a football player. He's a great guy, he plays for my team. Please just be nice to him, let him in if he wants to come into this area'.

"I introduce them both and Justin like shakes his hand and looks at Mesut, I'm stood in the middle, and goes 'he tells me you're the greatest'. And then Mesut Ozil looks back at him and goes 'I like to think so'."

After leaving Arsenal in January 2021, Ozil's career largely fizzled out and he retired in March aged 34. He's recently been making waves with his social media posts, including labelling Tottenham "bottlejob FC".
