Cole Palmer fired England level with a lovely strike after coming off the bench - and fans want Gareth Southgate sacked for benching him

Palmer, 22, came off the bench to roll the ball past Unai Simon after a first time layoff from Jude Bellingham. It was the Chelsea's stars first touch of the game, cancelling out Nico Williams' strike just after half-time.

The 22-year-old, was subbed on for Kobbie Mainoo as Southgate threw on more attackers to try and chase a final that was threatening to slip away from the Three Lions. Harry Kane was already off the pitch, when Palmer entered the fray to try and change the game.

Palmer has been exclusively used off the bench by Southgate in Germany.

"For the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon, it’s clear that Gareth Southgate sees them as impact players off the pitch," Roy Keane said on The Overlap Special, brought to you by Sky Bet, earlier in the tournament.

"I don’t know the stats for Euro 2024, but because it has been a long season for most of the players in the tournament, most players are having a big impact coming off the bench in the second half of matches, and that includes England with their late equaliser against Slovakia with Ivan Toney being involved.

"I don’t see Gordon or Palmer starting against Switzerland because I think Southgate will be wanting to bring them on late in the game, especially if it’s a tight match."
