The nightmare of being laughed at in one's underwear came true for rugby league ace Bradman Best.

Or that was pretty much the reality after the 22-year-old was spurned by his team-mate's wife in front of his dressing room and the legions watching at home. Newcastle Knights prospect Best was wearing just a towel after beating St. George Illawarra Dragons 30-10 when approached for an interview with Millie Elliott, who is married to Knights forward Adam Elliott.

Elliott juggles a broadcasting career with Channel Nine alongside her own commitments playing for the Sydney Roosters in the women's National Rugby League. And the 25-year-old maintained her professionalism when Best sought to sign off their segment with a kiss.

"Thank you very much, Braddy," she said after congratulating Best on his part in Newcastle's triumph with a tap on the shoulder. However, the talk turned painfully awkward when the Knights stars leaned in for a peck, only to see it was not reciprocated.

However, Elliott kept her composure (and some distance) as she added: "Go and put a shirt on and, um. . .we'll chat to someone else. Congrats on the win."

But he was told where to go instead

Best appeared to take the slight humiliation in stride and smiled as he crept off to track down a top of some sort. Meanwhile, Elliott did well to avoid any potential mix-up while husband Adam was present in the same dressing room.

Lock Elliott was previously at the centre of a locker room scandal when he was caught receiving oral sex from the fiancee of then-team-mate Michael Lichaa. Lichaa "almost died" after punching a window and severely cutting his arm in response to that incident.

Elliott is an NRL star in her own right

Both Adam and Millie (maiden name Boyle) Elliott were later punished by their clubs in 2021 after the two NRL players were thrown out a restaurant having been discovered kissing in the men's bathroom. Boyle attempted to play the controversy -which took place during Covid bubble - down at the time by calling it a "big kerfuffle about nothing."
