Sony has lifted the lid on a host of exciting new PlayStation 5 games coming out over the next year or so.

They range from cute platformers to frantic multiplayer shooters, deep role-play games to superhero action.

The firm’s State of Play event showcased 14 titles overall across PlayStation 5, PC, and PSVR 2.

Astro Bot sees the return of the little cartoon robot that starred in one of the very first PS5 hits, Astro’s Playroom.

Where that game was very much a short showcase of what the then-new console was capable of, this full-on platform game will feature 80 levels spanning six galaxies as you puzzle your way through a host of colourful worlds.

And it’s out in September.

Horror fans got a gameplay look at the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake.

The Konami scarefest comes out in October and a trailer showed plenty of monster combat with protagonist James Sunderland seen fighting a creepy Abstract Daddy enemy.

Marvel Rivals is a superhero packed multiplayer battle game where you take on the likes of Spider-Man and Groot.

It “lets players assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps”. The first closed beta test to probe the game’s server capability is scheduled for late July.

We also got eyes on the first gameplay trailer for Concord, a 5vs5 multiplayer shooter.

It’s a Guardians of the Galaxy-style space jaunt featuring a similar ragtag group of guns for hire. It’s out August 23.

Hit PS5 game God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC this September too, featuring the popular Valhalla DLC, as Sony stretches its legs further into personal computing.

Upcoming open-world RPG Infinity Nikki looked colourful with an Anime art style from former Zelda director Kentaro Tominaga. It’s oddly described as an “open-world dress-up adventure”.

Capcom also shared a new look at Monster Hunter Wilds. It was announced at the 2023 Game Awards but this is the first time we’ve seen it in action.

In the game, players join the ranks of a special Research Commission team investigating the Forbidden Lands.

The firm said: “These immersive ecosystems are populated with wildlife acclimated to their surroundings, including smaller monsters like Dalthydon, an herbivorous wyvern that migrates seasonally.

“Of course, large monsters also roam the Windward Plains, including Doshaguma. While massive and territorial, these fanged beasts are curiously sometimes sighted stalking the plains in aggressive packs.

“Meanwhile, the formidable amphibian Chatacabra uses its surroundings and adhesive saliva to become an even stronger adversary by armoring its body with natural materials like ore.”
