The first was when tonight’s chaser, Mark ‘the beast’ Labbett made his way to the podium to take on the contestants and appeared to have a heavier build.

The star famously shed lots of weight showcasing a much skinnier frame, and it was clear from his plumper appearance this was filmed “ages ago.”

“#TheChase You can tell it’s a repeat from the amount of weight The Beast was on his way to losing,” said one fan.

“so true he's lost a lot of weight since!,” added another.

A third griped: “This must be two years ago he’s much thinner now. Come on ITV!”

Labbett stunned his fans with his weight loss in a new Instagram snap.

The TV star has been shedding the pounds for a while and has lost around 10 stone so far.

His fans were blown away by the results when he shared a new image of him and model Caprice Bourret, who he is thought to be working with.

In February, Labbett revealed he was tempted to undertake gastric banding, a surgical procedure which involved placing a band around the upper half of a person’s stomach to lessen appetite.

However, he says his real success is in eating less and not giving into his sweet tooth.

“I was tempted by the gastric band but a good friend of mine who's a GP, said my problem is sugar, I have a sweet tooth,” Labbett told The Sun.

“A gastric band is useless for me because sugar metabolises quite quickly, so I've done it the old fashion way by eating a bit less, and I've tried to go to the gym.”

Another clue was the glass dividers between the contestants and the extra long desk where they sat.

“Why have they got the Covid screens, i thought this was a new episode #TheChase,” blasted one fan.

“It’s the extra long desk it’s a Covid episode #TheChase,” penned a second, while a third echoed: “Is this a Covid ep? Screens are up.”
