A furious WWE star threatened to "punch" a host and crew member live on TV for "disrespecting" him.

Natalie Barr and Matt Doran, hosts of Australian morning show Sunrise, were interviewing WWE "royalty" Grayson Waller and America’s LA Knight on Tuesday morning (January 16) when the outburst occurred.

In the segment, the wrestling rivals were engaging in some good-natured trash talk about each other and even discussed YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul.

But things started to get a little too real for viewers and hosts alike. Natalie Barr said: "I’m getting a bit scared here – I’m glad I’m sitting on this side of the couch."

Barr tried to wrap things up by asking the wrestlers if they could "give me one of your signature moves". Knight was left confused, wondering if the female host was asking him to body slam her on national TV.

“Well... our floor manager maybe? He’s available,” she suggested. The floor manager walked into shot with his fists in the air ready to go - which sent Waller over the edge, thinking they were mocking his career.

He stood up and started yelling at the crew member in a bid for him to stand down. “I don’t think you understand – if I come over there right now, we’re going to have the police here. I’m not going to give you some fake punch. I’m going to punch you straight in the jaw,” he said, rising from his seat.

"The disrespect that you have, even talking to me? You want to talk to me like this ain’t real? Don’t act all tough lad, don’t act all tough."

Doran immediately stood up to try and get between the pair but then found him the subject of abuse, with the wrestler threatening: "You too mate."

Barr quickly said that she wasn't disrespecting him, to which, Waller replied: "Nah, you’re alright, we love you." The presenters then wrapped up the interview, with Doran saying: "Well … it was certainly something. More in a moment."

A clip of the show has since gone viral on Reddit, gaining more than 1 million views, as people rushed to the comments to give their opinions. One user said: "Waller handled that well and had quick thinking. Some folks are just idiots."

Another added: "Props to Waller for that; he could have easily humoured them with some kind of bogus hold or whatever but he went about it the right way. Waller saved LA there too, not just himself. They were gonna make a joke out of this super hot rising star and make him look like a goof."

Meanwhile, a third commented: "That was absolutely f**king brilliant from Waller there. He protected kayfabe, he protected Knight. He was so sharp and on the ball. I was already a fan of his but my respect for him just grew a lot from this. Outstanding work."

Sunrise has been contacted for a comment regarding the incident.
