Texas Rangers ‘optimistic’ that Adolis García will be fine after MRI on Sunday

García had been scheduled to start at designated hitter in Sunday’s series finale vs. LAA.

ARLINGTON — Texas Rangers right fielder Adolis García underwent an MRI on his right forearm Sunday, and the results “came out pretty good” according to manager Bruce Bochy.

García collided with second baseman Marcus Semien when the two tried to track down a Taylor Ward pop fly in the sixth inning of Saturday’s 3-2 win vs. the Los Angeles Angels. Semien appeared to be the most shaken up of the two, but Bochy said that García “took a pretty good shot there from Marcus.” Both remained in the lineup for the entirety of the Rangers’ extra-innings win.

“We’re optimistic that he’s going to be fine,” Bochy said. “We’ll see how he’s doing Tuesday [against the Philadelphia Phillies].”

García had been scheduled to start at designated hitter in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Angels, but was scratched shortly after the lineup’s initial release. Robbie Grossman started in his place at designated hitter, and Travis Jankowski started in right.

The Rangers’ outfield, should García avoid a serious injury, is near full strength. Rookie Evan Carter will start in left field on Sunday for the first time since May 10 after lower back stiffness sidelined him for a week, and Bochy said Sunday that fellow rookie Wyatt Langford is “doing great” in his rehab from a hamstring strain.

“He’s getting live at bats, swinging the bat well too, down there in BP,” Bochy said. “I saw video of his first day, he hit a couple homers. He’s doing well.”
