One man was seriously injured Thursday morning when a tree fell on his vehicle on Interstate 476 north in Haverford Township.

Police, fire and ambulance crews responded to the accident shortly after 11 a.m.

The victim was driving a red Toyota Rav4 when the tree fell. He was rushed to a hospital. Two other vehicles were also struck by debris from the tree, and those drivers were uninjured, state police said.

Crews had the highway closed and then reduced to one lane as they investigated.

Responding crews battled congested traffic to get to the scene.

There was no word yet on the driver’s name or condition.
