UPDATED:

An inert land mine found in a storage unit in Jefferson County just south of Lakewood prompted a shelter-in-place order for a quarter of a mile surrounding Public Storage at 10201 W. Hampden Ave. Frontage Road on Wednesday night.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office posted about the order on X at 6:49 p.m. and said there was a bomb technician on scene and the military was responding to render the device safe.

The U.S. Army determined the device was inert and removed it from the scene, the sheriff’s office posted just before 9 p.m.
