UPDATED:

A 14-year-old boy is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder in a shooting near Federales Denver and Barcelona Wine Bar in the city’s River North Art District on Wednesday night.

The teen is suspected in a fatal shooting near 29th and Larimer streets around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Denver Police Department.

Officers responded to the area after the man was shot while intervening with a “disturbance,” Denver police said Sunday. The man, who has not been identified, died Friday.

The boy is considered armed and dangerous and should not be contacted by community members, according to Denver police. He is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 140 pounds.

Anyone with information about the case can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Updated 11:30 a.m. July 30, 2024: This story has been updated to remove the name of the 14-year-old boy now that he has been arrested and is being prosecuted as a juvenile. The Denver Post generally does not identify juveniles accused of crimes but did so in this case because police were seeking the public’s assistance in finding the suspect.
