About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Join Make Justice Normal for Street Work Earth, a street arts & climate action festival created by artists committed to fostering joyful, community-led action in public spaces. We'll spend the day co-creating art alongside incredible artists and learning about concrete environmental & climate action on 34th Avenue's Open Street in Jackson Heights, Queens. Participate in creative collaboration, learn about New York climate justice policies, and get connected to some brilliant people and groups working year-round to make New York City a climate-forward city.

RSVP to stay updated on the agenda. People of all ages welcome!!

MJN is a small BIPOC and women led nonprofit collective working as volunteers on evenings and weekends and on very small stipends to realize our mission: we're learning how to sustain our work and so grateful for your support. If can, consider donating via our awesome fiscal sponsor, Moore Impact! Your support will help us pay for supplies for the event and plan future street actions-- hopefully in 2025!? THANK YOU!

Why Street Works, Why Now?

Street Works are public-space galleries for participatory art, by and for artists dedicated to making justice normal. In a time in which democracy is at risk and collective civic participation is needed more than ever, we hope to support one home by and for these artists who go beyond interactive art to sharing power with audience in 2-way and 20-way conversation that enables the brilliance of passersby to collectively emerge. Over time and scale, we hope this is one way for democracy to become a personal and joyful experience.

Organized by

Make Justice Normal is a growing collective, fiscally sponsored by Moore Impact, imagining, studying, sharing, and practicing systems in which justice is normal. We started MJN to open space for people to openly question norms and design into new normals.
