SPUTNIK ON A STICK
IN THE LATE’ 80S‚ THE SUBJECT POLITICAL SCIENCE AT UCT WAS A CONTRADICTION IN TERMS. Thing is, you see, there really wasn’t much to compare with our divided land, so we turned to three equally disparate and desperate locales: Palestine, Ireland and Berlin. And although the countries were arguably more relevant, it was the crazy image of a quarantined city, an island of defiance in a sea of communism, that grabbed my attention and never let go.
