8pm: I arrive at the castle, the night only just beginning to set in. It’s been a glorious sunny day but things seem to be a lot darker here at Oxford Castle.

I walk up to the doors with my trusty sidekick and photographer Judi who will spend the night with me here.

There are members of the public leaving the courtyard having just enjoyed a performance of Macbeth in these dramatic surroundings. As they walk away, we venture inside.
