Love in lockdown

There are two sides to every story and this is Tom and Mary’s. They were interviewed separately for this publication.

Tom: We’d only been seeing each other for a few weeks.

Mary: We had been together for a couple of months when coronavirus arrived in the UK.

Tom: We didn’t meet online, like most people these days. We met in a Tesco Metro.

Mary: We both reached for the same tin of Heinz baked beans. I know it sounds crazy but it felt like love at first sight.

Tom: I looked up and saw this beautiful redhead. Late 20s, big green eyes, little black dress.

Mary: He said I could have the last tin of beans if I went for a drink with him.
