A Scotsman and his SPORRAN

A tartan kilt may be the highlight of Highland dress, but as with any outfit, accessories are key. The other integral part of any Scotsman’s traditional suit is his sporran, the decorative – sometimes silver-clasped and tassel-adorned – pouch that hangs over the kilt at the front. But you could never argue that the sporran puts ‘style over substance’, because this bumbag-esque garment is surely the most practical aspect of traditional dress. The question is: why didn’t they just add pockets?
