Night Sea

after Agnes Martin

We had a great time
walking into oblivion
before dinner

unburdened by the wind
of tinkering conversation
a glorious glut

of being shut up
by implied continuum
spun off in ultramarine pieces

though I don’t think
you can imagine
even a particle of vastness

I’m not able toreally, but this is the realthing—a picture, an interior
