Scar stood in the wine aisle, frowning at the shelves. She wasn’t in the mood for this. Really, what was the difference between a bottle that was £8.99 and one that was £9.99? If Tim was there, he’d be muttering about grape variety and she quickly offered up a prayer of thanks that she was shopping alone. Then, feeling guilty at such disloyalty, she reached for a £10.99 bottle of Pinot Noir with a little gold sticker on it. Tim liked Pinot Noir.
‘Have you got a decent Pinot Noir?’ he’d ask in restaurants, as if incapable of reading the wine list. Funny how he had such strong views about wine, but couldn’t tell when the milk had gone off…
