It was with a heavy heart that I read about Sharni Pinfold’s decision to quit racing. Sharni, just know there are a huge amount of people with emotional intelligence out there cheering for you and every other female racer on every lap. We need to be bigger than this boys, and I mean boys!

The article by Hamish Cooper (Sexism is a Sad Winner, AMCN Vol 70 No 15) is a call to arms for all those in the sport of motorcycling.

How is it that a young woman with such skill and opportunity can be driven from the sport while so many men must have looked on, heard the comments and saw the behaviour and did nothing? If the young lady’s father had been standing there you can be sure such behaviour would not have occurred, which makes the point that those committing such acts know
