Hearing a knock on the front door, I leapt to my feet, my legs shaking with nerves.

It was March 2009 and, aged 21, I was about to meet my birth mum.

I’d been adopted at 2 months old.

Had wonderful parents, Barbara, then 51, and Warren, 55.

‘I just want to know how I came to be here,’ I told them when I was 18.

They understood it
