Time for a Change

CATHERINE frowned as she pulled out the rogue white hair from her fringe. She held it up to inspect. It felt coarse and wiry.

“If you keep doing that, you’ll end up bald one day.” Her hairdresser, Robert was flapping open a black plastic gown to protect her clothes before he began cutting her hair.

She looked into the mirror at his reflection, as she’d so often done.

“But I’m too young to get white hairs,” she said. “I’m only 35.” Then she bit her lip at her lack of tact. Robert’s hair had gone grey before he turned 30.

He now wore it in a sophisticated cropped style. It certainly suited him. Like everything else about him. He’d always reminded her of George Clooney, with his velvety voice and smooth manner.
